Ancel, Glink routinely advises candidates, politicians and political parties regarding all aspects of election law. We have represented candidates for local governmental offices, including municipal, park district, township, school districts, library boards and community colleges, as well as judicial candidates and candidates for special districts. We regularly represent political parties, political organizations, political action committees, individuals and referendum committees regarding all aspects of the conduct of local elections.
Our election services include, but are not limited to, the preparation of nomination papers, including petitions; assessment of potential challenges to opponents; review of nomination paperwork prior to filing; advising regarding campaign finance disclosure obligations and the creation of political action committees. We frequently appear before electoral boards and several of our attorneys serve as public members on electoral boards when appointed to do so by chief judges of the court.
We are available to defend candidates whose nomination papers are challenges before electoral boards, and to represent objectors challenging candidates who have filed deficient nomination papers. We frequently represent and advise electoral boards in all aspects of their proceedings.
In addition, we represent the Municipal Clerks of Illinois and are well versed in representing municipal clerks, township clerks, school board secretaries and park district secretaries in their important role as local election official.
