Bio: Ms. Spiegel began her legal career as an Assistant Prosecutor in Allegan County, Michigan where she developed and honed her trial skills. In 1995, she was admitted to practice in Illinois and currently practices in Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties.

Ms. Spiegel concentrates her practice on various forms of litigation and general corporate practice, with a particular interest in governmental liability, compliance with federal regulations related to local governments, and public/private partnerships. She also handles general corporate concerns for her clients. Ms. Spiegel's courtroom experience includes the solo litigation of a landmark Illinois case. Ms Spiegel argued the case for her fire district client before the Circuit Court, through the Appellate Court, ultimately succeeding before the Illinois Supreme Court. Wauconda Fire Protection District v. Stonewall Orchards LLP, 214 Ill.2d 417, 828 N.E.2d 216 (2005). While the case established the right of fire districts to adopt and enforce ordinances in unincorporated areas of Illinois, its impact in the area of fire protection was nationally recognized.

Ms. Spiegel is a regularly invited speaker at statewide and regional symposiums and conferences, lecturing on topics that have included sexual harassment issues, compliance with Federal regulations related to local governments and current topics in municipal law. In addition, she has authored and co-authored articles ranging from parliamentary procedure for local governments to the Freedom of Information Act. She also conducts individualized training seminars for her clients in areas such as sexual harassment, workplace conduct and risk management.

Ms. Spiegel has served her community as an arbitrator for the Lake County Arbitration Center, as a board member of the Fremont Township Library District, and an adjunct Instructor at the College of Lake County teaching on legal concerns of fire service management; including tort liability, labor relations and financial compliance issues.
