Keri-Lyn J. Krafthefer has represented public entities and public officials throughout her entire legal career. Ms. Krafthefer is a partner with Ancel, Glink, and worked at another local governmental law firm prior to joining Ancel, Glink in 1995. Ms. Krafthefer received a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Illinois and her Juris Doctor degree from the John Marshall Law School.
Ms. Krafthefer has represented governmental bodies, including municipalities, townships, park districts, and school districts in all types of matters. In addition, she has performed specialty work for DuPage County. Ms. Krafthefer has advised such entities on day-to-day legal issues involving the administration of public entities, including issues related to labor and employment, practices and procedures, constitutional issues, governmental finance issues, and election-related issues. Ms. Krafthefer has also defended public entities and public officials before administrative agencies including the Illinois Department of Labor, the Illinois State Labor Relations Board, the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Commerce Commission, and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
Ms. Krafthefer is also an experienced litigator, having defended public entities and public officials in issues related to corporate litigation and civil rights defense. Ms. Krafthefer has been admitted to the Federal Trial Bar, and is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. She has also been admitted to the Illinois State Bar and has handled many state court matters.
Ms. Krafthefer has written chapters for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Practice Handbooks on Municipal Law and Practice, Illinois School Law and Illinois Election Law. She has also authored articles for various publications including the DuPage County Bar Association Brief. Ms. Krafthefer has authored several chapters in the Township Clerk's Handbook distributed by the Township Officials of Illinois. She has spoken on governmental topics at the Illinois Municipal League's annual conferences and before other organizations including the National Public Employers Labor Relations Association.
Ms. Krafthefer has also been active in many bar associations and professional organizations. She served as the 2000-2001 chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Election Law Committee as well as the 1998-1999 chair of the CBA's Local Government Committee. She remains a member of both of those committees. In addition, Ms. Krafthefer has worked with the Illinois Association of School Boards, the Illinois Council of School Attorneys, the Illinois Municipal League's Committee of Home Rule Attorneys, and is currently developing a township official training program with the Township Officials of Illinois. She is also a member of the Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association and the DuPage County Bar Association.
Ms. Krafthefer has worked with governmental bodies and public officials to assist them through a variety of transitional, procedural, election and personnel or employment-related challenges. Ms. Krafthefer formerly served as a public official herself, having been elected to serve as a Township Trustee in York Township. Ms. Krafthefer is an accomplished pianist and devotes some of her non-legal skills to performing in the Chicago Bar Association's Annual Christmas Spirits production.
