Bio: Gregory S. Mathews attended Yale University from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1977. From there he went to the Indiana University School of Law and received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1980. He has been in private practice since 1980.

Mr. Mathews has extensive experience in local government as an elected and appointed official. As President of the Village of Glen Ellyn from 2001 to 2005, he presided over a wide variety of municipal matters, including zoning, annexation, property rights, labor agreements, business development, intergovernmental agreements, transportation and constitutional issues. His responsibilities included chairing the executive oversight committee and board of the Glenbard Wastewater authority. He previously served as a village trustee from 1993 to 1997. Mr. Mathews also chaired the Glen Ellyn Economic Development Corporation and Cable Commission. Additionally, he sat on a special school district committee to study class and school sizes in the community. He currently serves as a commissioner on the DuPage Water Commission.

Greg has been a member of the Illinois State and Federal Bars since 1980. He primarily practices litigation and has tried jury cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He is experienced in product liability, premises, construction, condemnation and medical malpractice trials, and has argued successfully in the appellate court. He has served as legal counsel for municipal and intergovernmental bodies, and worked on issues related to governmental risk management and has made presentations on municipal litigation for continuing legal education courses. He also has served as an independent and circuit court arbitrator/mediator.
