Bio: Mr. Bolin is an associate attorney with Ancel Glink, Diamond, Bush, DiCianni and Krafthefer, P.C. Dan graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he served as an associate editor on the University of Illinois Law Review. During law school, Dan clerked for the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, working in the Drug Rehabilitation Court. He completed an externship with the legal staff for Illinois State Senate Republican Caucus and earned a CALI Award in Real Estate Development. Dan helped establish a local chapter of the Republican National Lawyers’ Association and served as a Research Analyst for the Illinois Civil Justice League. As an undergraduate, Dan concentrated in History and Political Science (B.A. 2004, Dean’s List). He was active in student government and local politics, leading a landslide student referenda campaign in favor of university symbol Chief Illiniwek.
Dan has spent his entire legal career representing public entities and public officials in numerous aspects of local governmental law. He concentrates his practice in prosecution of local ordinance violations, municipal law, election law, township law and park district law. Dan advised public entities on questions that arise on a daily basis regarding board governance issues, practices and procedures, finance, land use, zoning, labor and employment, litigation, and many other areas. Dan assists municipalities with building code compliance issues, municipal liens, foreclosures, land use and other matters. Dan has also served on a number of local electoral boards, hearing challenges to nominating petitions for candidates for local office. As a municipal prosecutor, Dan has experience prosecuting traffic and local ordinance violations, from overweight truck violations to retail theft.
Dan has extensive experience in politics and government. Before attending law school, he worked with legislators across the state as a Policy Analyst for Illinois House Republican Leader Tom Cross, conducting public hearings to develop legislation combating methamphetamine abuse. He interned for Lieutenant Governor Corinne Wood and later worked for State Representatives Chapin Rose and David Reis. Dan has worked on municipal, county, legislative, judicial and other political campaigns.
