Bio: Brien J. Sheahan received his undergraduate education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated with High Honors from the Department of Urban and Regional, and his law degree from DePaul University College of Law. Prior to joining the firm Mr. Sheahan held a variety of senior and executive positions within state government.

As an Assistant to former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar for Local Government Affairs Mr. Sheahan served as the Governor's chief liaison to the Illinois Municipal League, suburban Councils of Government, and local officials throughout the state. His responsibilities included advocacy, facilitating cooperation between municipalities and state government, the review of legislation, and the development of recommendations for executive action.

Mr. Sheahan served as Legal Counsel to Illinois Commerce Commissioner Terry Harvil. In that role he advised Commissioner Harvil on legal and regulatory matters pertaining to the Public Utilities Act and telecommunications issues. His service at the Commission included participation in senior level negotiations related to the merger of SBC and Ameritech, one of the largest and most complex mergers in state history.

As Deputy Executive Director of the Illinois Housing Development Authority Mr. Sheahan managed legislative and intergovernmental affairs and oversaw various aspects of operations for the $2 billion affordable housing lender. He was responsible for drafting legislation and policy, lobbying the General Assembly, Congress and Executive branches of the federal government, and coalition building.

Mr. Sheahan has extensive experience managing campaigns for federal, state, and local candidates; grass roots organizations, referendum questions, petition challenges, and media relations, issue development, and public affairs.
